Hi, I'm Alessio.
I’m an IT Manager based in London, with a background in software development. Outside work, I enjoy exploring new ideas, building my own projects and writing about what I learn along the way.
A BIT ABOUT ME
Sometimes it’s a problem at work, sometimes a personal project, sometimes an idea I just want to try. This website is where I share a bit of it all.
I work as an IT manager, looking after systems and helping people with the practical side of technology.
Websites, software and game worlds. I enjoy creating things, experimenting and figuring out how to make them work.
Notes from experience, things I’m learning and thoughts on how technology fits into everyday life.
I also enjoy travelling, playing chess, exploring new places and getting lost in a good game.
ABOUT ME
I built my first personal website at 12, and I’ve been finding reasons to build things ever since. These days, I work as an IT manager in London, with a background in software development and hospitality.
Outside work, I spend time on personal projects, from web apps to game worlds. This site brings together those projects, the things I’m learning and a few thoughts along the way.
ON MY RADAR
We connect to café, hotel and airport Wi-Fi without thinking twice. Most of the time that is perfectly fine, but the network is still being run by somebody else. Understanding what that means makes public Wi-Fi far less mysterious.
“Have you tried turning it off and on again?” sounds like lazy tech support, but there is a reason it works so often. Restarting a router clears temporary problems, rebuilds connections and gives your home network a chance to start clean.
You tap your card every day and it usually works instantly. Then, for no obvious reason, the machine asks for your PIN. It can feel random, but that interruption is actually one of the ways contactless payments quietly protect you.
Your phone says your photos are safely in the cloud, so it feels like the problem is solved. But cloud storage, syncing and a real backup are not always the same thing. That difference only becomes obvious when something important disappears.
GTA VI is no longer just another game release. After more than a decade of waiting, the expectation around it is enormous. It made me think about how difficult it must be to build anything when people already expect it to be perfect.
You type your password, then the website asks for a code from your phone. It can feel like an unnecessary extra step, but that small interruption can be the difference between somebody knowing your password and actually getting into your account.
